Nature Photography Workshops

Looking through a new lens. An introduction to photography to engage with nature on site

This summer, explore the beauty around you! We’re offering a series of four nature-based photography workshops designed for both patients and staff.

Looking Through a New Lens will bring the ‘New Foto’ exhibition, which runs at the AAH SMART Centre throughout 2025, to life. This will be achieved through the opportunity for staff and patients to engage in workshops with a professional photographer who will guide them in creative ways of capturing the hospital green spaces while drawing on individual interests and passions in the environment.

The workshops will focus on; spending time in the hospital outdoor spaces and communal experiences. Supporting participants in using green spaces to help reduce stress and help increase wellbeing.

Devised and delivered through a collaboration with NHS Lothian Charity, Greenspaces, Tonic Arts Exhibitions and other healthcare providers i.e. LEAP. Its aim is to provide; learning photographic techniques and approaches, engaging with other participants, and co-creating a pop-up exhibition of photography which will be shared across the hospital community.

This is ran in partnership with Stills: Centre for photography, who are based in Edinburgh.
