Join Beth, our Nature and Wellbeing Officer, for a range of nature-based activities to support your health and wellbeing.

Our timetables below outline the different staff, patient and volunteer activities on offer.

| Make your own Natural Herbal Scrubs | Fri 7th Aug 11am-1pm Wed 12th Aug 11am – 1pm Mon 17th Aug 11am – 1pm Mon 24th Aug 11am – 1pm | 7th and 12th Aug meet outside Anne Ferguson building 17th and 24th Aug meet outside staff wellbeing wing Drop in format, make your own herbal scrub with oats and dried aromatic herbs, and take away to use in a bath or shower. |
| Volunteering for Wildlife | Fri 10th July 10am – 12pm Mon 20th July 10am – 12pm Wed 5th Aug 10am – 12pm Wed 19th Aug 10am – 12pm | At the Staff Growing Space, behind the bike shed between the Inverleith Building and the Dialysis Unit. Drop in for as little as 5 minutes! Main tasks are laying woodchip, making signage about the wildlife benefits of different plants and planting wildflower plug plants. | Drinking Teas and Growing Peas! | Wed 8th July 11am – 1pm Mon 13th July 11am – 1pm Wed 15th July 11am – 1pm | Outside staff wellbeing wing Taste different herbal teas, then reuse your cup to grow soil-free pea shoots! Also an opportunity to chat to Beth about how nature connection activities might be brought to your staff or patient groups. |
| Bumblebee Walk | Wed 5th Aug 5:15 – 6:30pm | Meet at Anne Ferguson Building entrance. Join for a guided tour around the hospital site all about bumblebees! Learn basic ID of the common species, practice spotting bumblebees amongst the wildflowers and learn about the fascinating lives of some of our most charismatic pollinators. Beth can also deliver bespoke nature connection activities with your staff or patient groups. An example from this month is a ‘scented scrub’ activity in Medicine for the Elderly wards, where patients can make their own scented skin-care products using oats, muslin cloth and different dried plants including chamomile and rose petals.
