Green Health Activities at Western General: Winter 2025
Join Beth, our Nature and Wellbeing Officer, for a range of nature-based activities to support your health and wellbeing.

Our timetables below outline the different staff, patient and volunteer activities on offer.

| November 4 | Winter Veg Growing | Everyone | 12:30pm – 1:30pm (Drop in) | Wellbeing Wing | Expert advice from Nadia Russell, horticulturalist with Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. |
| November 11 | Free Seeds | All staff and outpatients | 12:30 – 2pm (Drop in) | Outside Anne Ferguson Building or in cafe (dependant on weather) | Wildflowers and some veg. Pop along for a chat on how to sow your seeds to help pollinators next year. |
| November 17 | Guided bird walk and RSPB drop in | All staff welcome | 12:30 – 1pm (bird walk) 1-2pm (drop in) | For bird walk please meet outside the Wellbeing Wing. The drop in session will be outside the Anne Ferguson Building or in cafe (dependant on weather) | Join us for a guided walk to discover the bird life at the Western, and spot places where we could help birds over winter with feeders and nests.Come chat to RSPB experts about best practice in bird feeding, winter migrants and how to encourage birds to nest in bird boxes. |
| November 18 | Bulb Planting | All staff | 11am – 1pm | Hospital Main Drive, entrance sign | When winter ends, hungry pollinators will be grateful for a splash of early spring colour! We’ll plant a variety of woodland bulbs in the area around the hospital entrance sign, opposite Inverleith Building. See Google maps point: https://maps.app.goo.gl/8g9LLGRg6xwmipmg9 |
