Green Health Activities at Western General: Summer 2026
Join Beth, our Nature and Wellbeing Officer, for a range of nature-based activities to support your health and wellbeing.

| Wildlife Walk with Edinburgh Natural History Society | Fri 19th June, 2-4pm | Meet outside the Wellbeing Wing at 2pm or join us along the way. We’ll be slowly walking around the perimeter of the hospital recording all the wildlife we can find. Contact Beth if you want to meet us at a certain time or call 07516588271 on the day to find us. |
| Volunteering for Wildlife | Tues 9th June 10am-12pm Mon 15th June 10am – 12pm Fri 26th June 10am – 12pm | At the Staff Growing Space, behind the bike shed between the Inverleith Building and the Dialysis Unit. Drop in for as little as 5 minutes! Main tasks are laying woodchip, making signage about the wildlife benefits of different plants and planting wildflower plug plants. |
| Drinking Teas and Growing Peas! | Wed 8th July 11am – 1pm Mon 13th July 11am – 1pm | Wed – Outside Anne Ferguson Building Mon – At the staff growing space, behind the bike shed between the Inverleith Building and the Dialysis Unit. Taste different herbal teas, then reuse your cup to grow soil-free pea shoots! Also an opportunity to chat to Beth about how nature connection activities might be brought to your staff or patient groups. |
Beth can also deliver bespoke nature connection activities with your staff or patient groups. An example from this month is a ‘scented scrub’ activity in Medicine for the Elderly wards, where patients can make their own scented skin-care products using oats, muslin cloth and different dried plants including chamomile and rose petals.
